内容简介
《胡适英文文存》系列结集了胡适于20世纪20年代左右到60年代初之间撰写的英文文章或英文演讲，它们大多都曾发表于颇具影响的英文刊物上，并对当时的中国社会产生过重大影响。按主题分编为《中国文学与社会》《中国哲学与思想史》和《民族危机与公共外交》三册，由哥伦比亚大学东亚系教授周质平选编。
《胡适英文文存1：中国文学与社会》以胡适发表时的原文影印本为底本，经仔细查证和勘误，旨在让中外读者更加了解胡适向世界介绍中国文化的传统及其近现代发展方面发挥的作用。
作者简介
作者胡适（1891-1962），现代学者、诗人、历史学家、文学家、哲学家。曾担任国立北京大学校长、台湾研究院院长等职。胡适兴趣广泛，著述丰富，在文学、哲学、史学、考据学、教育学、伦理学、红学等诸多领域都有深入的研究。
主要著作有《中国哲学史大纲》（上）《尝试集》《胡适文存》《胡适自传》《戴东原的哲学》《白话文学史》《胡适论学近著》《四十自述》《藏晖室札记》《胡适日记》论著。
