作者简介
作者弗兰西斯·培根，英国文艺复兴时期杰出的哲学家和文学家。生于贵族家庭，是掌玺大臣兼大法官古拉斯·培根爵士的幼子，经历诸多磨难，后来也成为大法官。晚年脱离政治活动，专门从事科学和哲学研究。他的随笔集以简洁的语言、优美的文笔、透彻的说理、迭出的警句，成为世界文学史上伟大的散文作品之一。
