牛津大學社會學博士，現為劍橋大學社會系資深講師。著作包括Time, Self and Social Being（1992）、Social Theory in the 20th Century（1998）、Philosophy of the Social Sciences：Towards Pragmatism（2005）、Social Theory in the Twentieth Century and Beyond（2010，合著）。
