罗伯特·达尔（Robert Alan Dahl），美国当代著名政治学家。1915 年生于美国艾奥瓦州，1940 年在耶鲁大学获得博士学位，后长期在耶鲁大学任教。由于达尔的学术成就，他于 1966 年当选为美国政治学学会主席，他还是美国国家科学院院士、美国人文科学院院士，并担任英国科学院通讯院士。在达尔的学术生涯中，主要是致力于对多元民主理论和政治学方法论的研究，他著述甚丰，主要有：A Preface to Democratic Theory （1956，new edition in 2006）、 Who Governs?: Democracy and Power in an American City （1961）、Modern Political Analysis （1963）、Polyarchy: Participation and Opposition（1971）、A Preface to Economic Democracy （1985）、Democracy and Its Critics （1989）、On Democracy （1998）等。
