本书以概念隐喻理论为分析框架，采用定量和定性相结合的研究方法，并基于CMA分析法（即语境分析、隐喻识别、隐喻分类和隐喻阐释）对英汉社会话语中的概念隐喻进行比较研究。本书重点研讨了以下内容：1)英汉概念隐喻的普遍性特征；2)英汉抽象概念通过隐喻构建和实现的问题；3)英汉隐喻的概念结构；4)以概念隐喻为分析框架，系统比较英汉隐喻概念的差异性，并从语言体验视角阐释其因素。
