Analysis on the Factors Influencing the Safety Production Behavior of Pig Famers

Abstract:Behaviors of pig farmers affect the quality and safety of pork directly. It plays an important role in human health. Used multivariateprobit model,this paper analyzed behaviors of using animal feed,adding feed additives,using veterinary drugs,and disposing dead pigscomprehensively. The result shows that,years of farming experience had a significant negative effect on safety production behavior of pig famers.Scale of farming influences the usage of veterinary drugs and disposal of dead pigs significantly. However,it does not affect feed and feedadditives using behaviors. Specialization has a positive influence on farmers’ dead pigs disposal behaviors and feed additive using behaviors,butfor the using of farmers’ feed and veterinary drugs the association was not significant. Therefore,educating pig farmers pointy,developingmoderate scale farming,spreading disposal technique and providing technical guidelines should be effective ways to ensure quality and safety ofpork.

Research on Farmers’ Willingness to Participate in Participatory Security System and the Effect Factors

Abstract:In order to reduce the organic agricultural products certification cumbersome procedures and high cost of certification,theparticipatory security system(PGS)construct local production,certification,and consumption network based on the trust,social network andknowledge sharing,to support small scale and low income farmers in the production of organic agricultural products,promote local economicdevelopment,enhance the level of food safety,and protect the ecological environment. Research literature on Chinese farmers’ cognition andwillingness to participate in the the PGS is a blank. This paper empirically analyzes factors affecting Chinese small scale agricultural farmers’awareness and willingness to participate in PGS to product organic agricultural products through large-scale questionnaire survey. And inparticular this paper explores the effect of two variables,farmers recognition to PGS and the willingness to product organic agriculturalproducts,on farmers’ willingness to participate in the PGS. The results show that the rate of farmers’awareness of PGS and willingness toparticipate are not high;farmers’ cognition on PGS and willingness to produce organic agricultural products significantly affectFarmers’willingness to participate in PGS;farmers who have heard PGS and willing to produce organic agricultural products,their willingness toparticipate in the PGS were increased by 8.6% and 41.3%;in addition,the expected profit,attitude,college degree or above are significantfactors affecting farmers’willingness to participate in the PGS. Based on the results,this paper puts forward the countermeasures andsuggestions.
