——Book Review for “Constructing a Social Co-governing System for Food Safety with Chinese Characteristics”

Abstract：Food safety is a matter of basic livelihood. In order to solve the problem of food safety，the whole society needs to participatein theprocess. Professor Shijiu Yin，of Center for Food Safety Governance Policy Research in Qufu Normal University，has been concerned about foodsafety issues for a long time. Analysis in this book is based fully drawing lessons from the western modern governance theory and used the fieldsurvey as the basic measure. The author fully grasped the basic characteristics and actual conditions of the food safety risk in China，and strivedto build a macroscopic framework of the social co-governance system of food safety with Chinese characteristics. Then，the typical behaviorcharacteristics of the three major co-governing subjects namely government，market and society，are studied respectively. The author madeevery effort to scientifically summarize the practical experience of food safety management in China and actively explored new approaches to foodsafety risk management in the new era.

Social Capital，Tenure Security and the Adoption of Green Control Techniques of Family Farms in China

Abstract：This paper is based on survey data collected among 443family farms in the provinces Shandongand Henan. We use endogenousswitchingprobit models to investigate the influence of social capital and tenure security onthe adoption of green control techniques（GCTs）offamily farms，and establish simplified equations to verify whether social capital strengthen the promotion of tenure security to the adoptionofGCTs in family farms. On the basis，we focus on the different influences of embedding social capital and disembedding social capital. Findingsshow that social capital and tenure security both have significant positive effects on the adoption ofGCTs in family farms. Social capitalstrengthens the promotion of tenure security to the adoption ofGCTs in family farms. There are differences in the strengthening role of differentsocial capital. Therefore，government policies should guarantee tenure security and cultivate the social capital of family farms，especiallythedisembedding social capital.
