内容简介
本书论文作者来自北京大学、复旦大学、南京大学、香港中文大学等国内高校，以及荷兰莱顿大学、德国法兰克福大学、英国华威大学、法国国家科学研究中心等国外研究机构。
所收论文的研究方向主要包括：河流文化研究的历史回顾，河流与社会文化，河流、港口与城镇文化，河流、交通与商业，河流、技术与人地关系，河流、环境以及产业文化，等等。
本书的内容有助于学界进一步认识因地理关系而形成的社会、经济、文化关系，将其结集出版，旨在鼓励学者拓宽研究视野、开展国际交流，并在此基础上推动跨文化研究。
作者简介
编者包乐史，荷兰历史学家、汉学家，荷兰莱顿大学教授，主要研究涉及东南亚和东亚史、海外华侨史、印尼华人史、华侨贸易和殖民地时代贸易与文化等课题。
