本书是对20世纪和21世纪初以来陆续出现的每一种西方文艺批评理论的主要思想意义、理论主张、学术价值的概论。本书共讨论了18种当代西方文艺批评理论，同时，本书在每一章文后提供了相关理论学派代表人物的代表作（论文或专著）书单，作为学者们自主阅读的相关文献资料（Selected Readings），供研究使用。
本书虽以专著的形式呈献给读者，但完全可以用作英美文学、文艺理论、比较文学与世界文学专业本科生和研究生的文学批评和理论研究课程教材，亦可作为文学、文化、文艺学研究生及从事文学批评和理论研究学者的工具书或参考书。
作者简介
作者陈世丹，文学博士，中国人民大学外国语学院教授，外国语言文学学科带头人，英语系主任，英美文学、西方文论研究方向博士生导师、博士后合作导师。国际文学伦理学批评研究会常务理事，全国英国文学学会常务理事，全国美国文学研究会常务理事。完成和在研国家社会科学基金项目3项。在研中国人民大学重大规划项目1项“西方后现代主义小说总论”（16XNLG01）。出版学术专著11部；主编教材6部。发表国家核心期刊学术论文70多篇。
