本书是彝族诗人吉狄马加的诗作精选，汉英对照，由美国汉学家、诗人梅丹理译成英文。
诗人从民族的历史、文化、传统和命运等人文角度入笔，以诗歌的方式向世界倾诉历史、倾诉民族文化，融入带有浓郁民族性的思考。
作者简介
作者吉狄马加，彝族，著名诗人、作家、书法家。1961年生于四川大凉山。1982年毕业于西南民族大学中文系。曾任中国作家协会书记处书记、青海省副省长，现任青海省委常委、宣传部长，并兼任中国少数民族作家学会会长，中国诗歌学会顾问。他是中国当代著名的少数民族代表性诗人，同时也是一位具有广泛影响的国际性诗人，已在国内外出版诗集二十余种。
